The listening paper gives you 4 parts and 40 questions in about 30 minutes, and the recording plays once only. Academic and General Training candidates sit the identical paper, so there is nothing to choose between here.
A full paper is 40 questions in about 30 minutes, and it is the only length that gives a real IELTS band. Academic and General Training candidates sit this same paper.
