Tier OneMarker's note

Your position is clear from the first paragraph and both views get a real example, which is why Task Response is your strongest score. What holds this essay at 6.5 is accuracy: articles and plurals slip in almost every paragraph. Fix those and the same ideas read as a 7.

A band for every criterion

Task response, coherence, vocabulary and grammar are scored one by one, each with the reason for its band.

  • Fluency6.5

  • Grammatical Range and Accuracy6.0
  • PronunciationStrongest7.0
  • Coherence6.5

Tier OneMarker's note

You keep talking without long pauses and your pronunciation is easy to follow, which carries the score. In Part 3 your answers stop after the first reason. Add an example and a contrast, and fluency and coherence both move up.

Speaking, criterion by criterion

Scores from fluency to pronunciation, and every answer there to play back.

Say it better2

  • make the traffic lessease congestion

The collocation examiners expect on this topic.

  • a lot of moneysubstantial investment

More precise, and it suits a formal essay.

Better phrasing

Phrases that are right but flat, swapped for what an examiner expects, with the reason.

Fix this first

Start with articles and plurals: they cost you marks in every paragraph.

  • Government should invest to public transport because it is more fair for poor people.

The government should invest in public transport first, because it is fairer to people on low incomes.

Article, preposition and comparative fixed in one sentence.

  • In big city, traffic jam wastes many hour every day.

An article, two plurals and the verb that agrees with them.

  • Government can also build more bicycle lane in centre of town.

Two articles and a plural, the same slip as paragraph one.

  • This is why I believe public transport is best solution for environment.

'The' before a superlative and before 'environment'.

Questions before you start

Want live classes with a teacher as well? See the programs.

What counts as one mark?

One sitting on any exam: a whole test, one part or one practice set. However many of its tasks or answers you have marked, it counts once.

When do my marks refill?

Every seven days, on the weekday you started. Marks you have not used do not carry over to the next week.

Do all the exams share the weekly marks?

Yes. There is one count for every exam: 5 speaking and 3 writing marks a week, for whichever exams you are preparing for.

Can I get a refund?

Yes: the full charge, within 7 days of it, as long as nothing has been marked. Once anything is marked, or after 7 days, that charge is not refunded, and cancelling stops the next one.

How do I cancel?

From Billing, in one click. Your pass stays active until the end of the month you paid for.

I'm enrolled in a program. Do I need the pass?

No. Your program already includes marking. The pass is for learners who are not enrolled.

Should I take the pass or a program?

Take the pass if you study on your own and want your speaking and writing marked every week. Choose a program if you want live classes and a plan for every day as well.
