1. Your 7-Day Cooling-Off Period
Under Article 17 of the E-Commerce Act, you have the right to withdraw from your enrollment and receive a full 100% refund of the tuition paid within 7 calendar days of the payment date.
This right is unconditional. You may exercise it for any reason, and you do not need to justify your decision. The refund is granted regardless of how many exercises you have completed, how many lessons have been unlocked, or whether the cohort has formally started.
The 7-day period is calculated in calendar days, including weekends and Korean public holidays. The day of payment is day 0; the cooling-off window expires at the end of day 7.
2. Refunds After the Cooling-Off Period
Once the 7-day cooling-off period has expired, the Academy Act applies. Your refund percentage is determined by how much of the cohort has elapsed at the time you submit your refund request:
- Before the cohort start date: 100% refund.
- Less than 1/3 of the cohort elapsed: 2/3 (approximately 66.67%) refund.
- Less than 1/2 of the cohort elapsed: 1/2 (50%) refund.
- 1/2 or more of the cohort elapsed: no refund is available.
"Elapsed" is measured by calendar days from the cohort start date to the date you submit your refund request, divided by the total length of the cohort in calendar days. These tiers are mandated by 학원법 시행령 별표 4 (Academy Act Enforcement Decree, Schedule 4) and apply uniformly to every paid enrollment in the program.
3. How to Request a Refund
All refund requests are handled inside your account. From your dashboard, open the Billing page, find the enrollment you wish to cancel, and click the Request Refund button on that enrollment's card.
A dialog will appear showing you the calculated refund amount and the legal basis applied (cooling-off or Academy Act tier) before you confirm. You will be asked to enter a brief reason (minimum 10 characters) so we can improve the program; the reason does not affect your eligibility.
Refund requests submitted within the cooling-off period are processed automatically. Requests after the cooling-off period are reviewed by an administrator to confirm the calculated refund amount, then submitted to the payment provider; this review is procedural and does not change the legally-mandated refund percentage.
4. Processing Timeline
Once your refund is approved, we issue the refund through the original payment method via Toss Payments. The funds typically return to your account within 3 to 5 business days, although your card issuer or bank may take additional time to display the credit on your statement.
Business days exclude Saturdays, Sundays, and Korean public holidays. We have no control over the issuer-side timing once Toss Payments has processed the return.
5. Refund Methods
Refunds are issued exclusively to the original payment method used at checkout. If you paid by credit card, the refund returns to that card. If you paid by bank transfer (계좌이체) or virtual account (가상계좌), the refund returns to the bank account associated with that payment.
We cannot redirect a refund to a different card, a different bank account, a different name, or a different payment method. If your original payment method is no longer available (closed card, closed bank account), please contact us through the Billing page so we can coordinate an alternative with Toss Payments.
6. Enrollments Without Payment
Some enrollments are created without a payment, for example when a teacher manually assigns a student to a cohort, when an enrollment is granted as a scholarship, or when a refund has already been processed. These enrollments have no payment to return; the Billing page will indicate this and the refund request flow will not be available.
If you believe a non-payment enrollment was created in error, contact us through the Billing page and we will investigate.
7. Situations Where a Refund Is Not Available
A refund will not be issued in the following situations:
- The cohort has reached or exceeded its halfway point (1/2 or more elapsed) at the time you submit your refund request, and you are past the cooling-off period.
- You have already received a refund for the same enrollment.
- The enrollment was created without a payment (see Section 6).
- Your account has been terminated for a violation of the Terms of Service, including breach of the Acceptable Use Policy, AI Service Abuse rules, or Content Moderation rules. Forfeiture in this case is provided for in our Terms of Service and does not contradict this Policy.
- You are seeking a refund of a third-party charge (such as a chargeback fee or currency conversion fee imposed by your card issuer or bank). Those charges are not held by us and cannot be returned.
8. Partial Use of the Service
Within the 7-day cooling-off period, your refund is not reduced by your usage of the Service. You may complete exercises, watch live classes, and use the AI chat without forfeiting any portion of your refund right.
After the cooling-off period, the Academy Act tier is determined by cohort progress (calendar days elapsed), not by your individual usage. A student who completed every exercise and a student who never logged in receive the same refund percentage if they request at the same point in the cohort.
9. Disputes
If you believe a refund decision is incorrect, you may dispute it by responding through the Billing page or by contacting us through the channels listed in our Terms of Service. We will respond within 7 business days.
You also retain the right to file a complaint with the Korea Consumer Agency (한국소비자원, https://www.kca.go.kr) or to seek mediation through the Electronic Commerce Dispute Mediation Committee (전자거래분쟁조정위원회) under the E-Commerce Act.
10. Legal Basis
The terms of this Policy are based on the following Korean statutes and regulations:
- 전자상거래 등에서의 소비자보호에 관한 법률 제17조 (Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Article 17) — the 7-day cooling-off right.
- 학원의 설립·운영 및 과외교습에 관한 법률 시행령 별표 4 (Academy Act Enforcement Decree, Schedule 4) — the tiered refund schedule after the cooling-off period.
- 학원의 설립·운영 및 과외교습에 관한 법률 (Academy Act) — the registration basis for the Tier One English program as a registered private academy.
Where this Policy and the cited statutes conflict, the statutes prevail. We will update this Policy promptly if the law changes.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the most recent changes took effect. Changes do not apply retroactively: a refund right that existed under the version of the Policy in effect at the time of your payment remains in effect for that payment, even if the Policy is later changed.
12. Contact
For questions about this Policy, or about a specific refund request, contact us through the Billing page in your dashboard. Refund requests must be submitted through the Billing page; email and chat are not authorized channels for initiating a refund.
